The novel approach of EMI reduction in a GaN-Based High-Frequency power converter for the renewable energy source.
Motivation
The motivation for this research is to increase access to clean and affordable energy by enhancing efficient energy production and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. By improving converter topology design and employing advanced EMI optimization techniques, such as mitigating conducted EMI, we aim to minimize energy losses that are common in conventional inverters. This will contribute to economic growth and sustainability in the energy sector.
I am Arsalan Muhammad Soomar, currently based in Gdańsk, Poland, and originally from Pakistan. I am an electrical engineer and Ph.D. candidate in Electrical and Control Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology. Now in the fourth year of my doctoral studies, my research focuses on advanced electromagnetic interference (EMI) reduction techniques in GaN-based high-frequency power converters. I completed both my Master’s degree and Bachelor of Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Sindh, Pakistan. My scholarly contributions are reflected in my Google Scholar profile, with over 790 citations, an h-index of 11, and an i10-index of 14.
Alongside my academic work, I actively serve as a peer reviewer, having reviewed more than 150 manuscripts for leading publishers, including IEEE, Elsevier, Springer Nature, Frontiers, and the Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science (IAES). I also contribute as a reviewer for IEEE conferences such as IEEE CPE and IEEE ECCE Europe. My areas of expertise include power electronics, renewable energy systems, electromagnetic compatibility, and advanced control techniques.
Professionally, I am an IEEE Graduate Student Member under Region 8 (Poland Section) and hold active memberships in IEEE Young Professionals, IEEE Electron Devices Society, IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, and IEEE Power Electronics Society. IEEE Member Number: 93837237. Also registered as a lifetime member in PEC (pakistan Engineering Council)
In addition, I work as a part-time research consultant with Global Freelancers, supporting academic writing, journal publication, and mentoring. Previously, I served as a Solar Design Engineer at YellowLite, Inc. (Cleveland, Ohio, USA) from November 2019 to November 2021, where I specialized in renewable energy system design and implementation.
I am currently seeking opportunities in research and development (R&D), academia, or industry within power electronics, EMI/EMC engineering, renewable energy systems, or related domains. I am particularly interested in positions at universities, research institutes, and technology-driven organizations where I can contribute to innovation in high-frequency power conversion, electromagnetic interference mitigation, and simulation-driven design.
